Everything a Home Owner Needs to Know About Reflective Solar Window Tints

A home is a place that makes everyone comfortable and at peace. Window tints are developed to protect homes from too much heat, burglars, and can even promote cost savings through energy reduction methods. There are window tints designed for protection of the glass, as such that it prevents breakage though minimal force. On the other hand, there are solar window tints designed to protect homes from excessive heat coming from the sun.

There are two categories of solar window tints; non-reflective and reflective window tints. Examples of non-reflective solar tints are usually “dyed” window tints. This category of window tints does not have a mirror-like property. Rather than reflect the heat and sunlight, this type of window tint absorbs the heat. On the other hand, solar reflective window tints can reflect heat and sunlight in the amount of it be designed.

Reflective tints are usually metallized. The metals in the composition of the film act as sunlight and heat barrier, and reflect them to the exterior part of the glass. Aside from UV protection and temperature control of the house, there are also a lot of advantages offered by reflective tints. Because of its mirror-like property, these tints can provide protection of property. During daytime, this type of window tint gives the reflection of the outside part of the house while the keeping the interior invisible to people outside the house.

The reflection was caused by the high amount of light supplied in the outside. However, during evenings, it cannot give such protection. The light supply during evenings is mostly coming from the inside of the house, thus; the window tint will just normally give the transparent window appearance to the outside. As of now, there is no available window tint that can give a protective effect in the evenings, unless it is a total-black out type of window tint. The disadvantage of using total black-out window tint is that it doesn’t allow users to see through the glass from both sides.  In addition to this, solar window tints can give the house a polished and elegant look that is presentable to the eye.

One important thing to keep in mind before buying solar reflective window tints is to check whether it is made with dye materials. The good thing about reflective window tints is that they don’t usually contain dyes and are usually metallic in nature. Checking for product specifications in details before make a decision.

Reflective window tints are very useful for houses not only in the warm climates but also in areas with cold climates. A two-way reflective window tint can help maintain the temperature inside the house by not allowing the heat to escape during cold climates. During sunny days, it can work from the outside and protect the house from too much UV rays and heat. Thus, at a reasonable cost and long-term use, it is now a necessity for every home.
