As Temperatures Rise Car Window Tinting On Increase
by Anonymous

HEALTH, SAFETY BENEFITS. WINDOW TINTING INCREASINGAS HEAT WAVE CONTINUES IN KC

KANSAS CITY -- August 23, 2003) -- As the oppressive temperatures continue in Kansas City, many people are having their car windows tinted in an effort to reduce the heat build-up in their cars, trucks and RVs, according to Jack Rush, who operates Alta Mere window tinting businesses in Olathe and Lee’s Summit.

Rush says he has seen a spike in his tinting business as the temperature continues to eclipse the 100-degree mark on a regular basis. There are a number of good reasons for the increase:

Health—Tinted windows reduce harmful UV radiation (that can cause skin cancer) up to 99 percent. Dermatologists even recommend people wear sunscreen while driving.

Heat---In this weather the inside of cars in the area can easily exceed 100 degrees and reach potentially dangerous levels. Tinting can reduce heat by up to 50 percent and also increases the efficiency of air conditioning.

Interior Preservation---Tinting reduces ultraviolet rays and heat that can cause interiors to fade and crack.

Safety/Privacy---Many drivers prefer tinted windows to enhance privacy and safety. In addition, tinted windows are far more likely hold together (rather than shatter) when struck by a stone or other object, and windshield strips reduce glare from the morning and evening sun.

“Window tinting is not something done only to enhance the appearance of a car,” says Rush. “It can provide some real health and safety benefits, particularly during the current heat wave in Kansas City.”

Alta Mere focuses on window tinting and auto alarms, but is also expanding into audio, video, spoilers and wheels. The Olathe business is located at 395 North Ridgeview Rd (near I-35 and Santa Fe). Phone: (913) 768-TINT (8468). The Lee’s Summit location (which opened July 1) is at 1312 Southwest Market St. (1/4 mile south of Hwy 50, just west of 291 South).
